While I agree that this nonsense in Zimbabwe is just that, I do think it's important that people realize it's not so far-fetched to think the US has colonial interests in Africa. The media really doesn't cover much on Africomm, but there is a significant push to have a permanent American presence in Africa for "peacekeeping" and "ready rapid response" in the region. It sounds suspiciously like a step toward claim-staking. It doesn't excuse the rantings of this fanatical egomaniac Mugabe, but it's not the wildest notion ever that the US would seek a permanent, controlling presence in some areas of oil-rich Africa. . . -ie
